Dr. Joel King

We held our final Third Thursday Group of the year on December 19, 2019 with Dr. Joel King as our guest speaker. He is the cousin of Dr. Marin Luther King, the Civil Rights Leader,” Finishing Out the Year Strong was the theme for the meeting. Dr. Joel King spoke of his challenges about surviving two strokes within two years. He spoke of the challenges of learning to walk again. He went from a wheel-chair to a walker and now he uses a cane for balance when he is walking. His recovery has been a difficult and long struggle however he is a strong survivor. His faith in God is what kept him strong and keeps him going.

His message to us is to be strong. No matter what our disability may be we still are here in spite of the many trials.  He gave us instructions to live our best life as we anticipate a brighter future for 2020.
